The Chief and Council are elected by the eligible voters of Kluane First Nation for a term of three years. Chief and Council’s main responsibility is to follow the guidance and direction of the General Assembly to protect the general welfare of KFN Citizens, KFN Settlement Lands and the KFN Final Agreement, through their jurisdiction of management and financial accountability. Chief and Council is obliged to implement the direction and recommendations of the General Assembly to the benefit of all Kluane First Nation citizens.

The Responsibilites of the Chief are as follows:

A) Be an ex officio member of all KFN Committees;
B) To ensure that the directives of the GA and Council are carried out;
C) Be a member of the Leadership of the CYFN;
D) Provide general political leadership;
E) Represent and protect KFN Citizen's rights, titles and interests;
F) Be aware of the actions of all governing bodies;
G) Be the spokesperson for KFN; and
H) Make recommendations to the GA or the Council.
